Threads of Sisterhood is a deeply textured meditation on connection, lineage, and the unspoken language of sisterhood. With their eyes closed in unity and reflection, the two women are crowned with flowing yarn locs and anchored by a row of hand-tied beaded fringe, representing stories passed down, wisdom held, and protection woven through generations.
This original textile piece is crafted on natural burlap and adorned with richly dyed thread and embroidery. The detailed locs and facial shading offer a grounding presence, while the fringe dances with color, movement, and ancestral rhythm.
Artist Note
Threads of Sisterhood was the very first piece I created in this series. As I shaped their faces and hair, I felt something unlock like a voice, a rhythm, a remembrance. This artwork became a portal, a beginning, and a promise to keep exploring the beauty of womanhood through thread, texture, and color. Each piece that followed was a continuation of that conversation. This series is still unfolding, still gathering energy from the stories of women past and present.
