Join our intimate online weaving circle and learn to craft soulful burlap yarn art inspired by ancestral beauty and tribal expression. In this 2-hour live class, you’ll be guided step-by-step in creating the iconic portrait design shown , a powerful feminine face with tribal hair, fringe earrings, closed eyes, and textured detail.
🧶 What You’ll Learn:
- How to transfer your face design onto burlap
- Techniques for yarn embroidery and 3D texture
- Beading methods for earrings and adornment
- Tips for creating smooth outlines and fine details
This is a modern take on traditional textile arts, using burlap, yarn, and beads to honor cultural roots while expressing personal creativity.
🎨 Supply List (Please gather before class):
- One 16” embroidery hoop
- ½ yard of white burlap (tight weave recommended)

8” square of natural burlap color or brown if you can find it(for the face)
- You can also use a natural burlap color for the base instead of white and then use a brown or darker color burlap for the face like the photo example above)
- Low-heat glue gun
- Small or medium colorful beads (for earrings and adornment)
- Your choice of yarn for lips
- Large eye yarn needle(s)
- Regular Yarn Needle
- Beading needle
- Approximately 28-30 medium beads (various colors)
- 3-4 various colors of yarn(small bundles)
- Pink or red yarn for lips
- Black yarn (for outline and hair)
- Black jumbo yarn for hair
- Black chalk pencil or fabric-safe pencil
- Black marker
- Paper for cutting out shapes
- Scissors
Total value for ALL items is approximatley $45 if you purchase every single thing. You will likely already have many of these items at home like scissors, glue gun or markers.
A complete supply kit is also available for purchase for $55 including shipping(U.S) but you would save money by sourcing items yourself. I got all products from Hobby Lobby or Amazon.
